Rural Industries Program

SARTHI has been running its Rural Industry Development (RID) program since 1986, providing training to youth in various trades such as handloom weaving (woolen, cotton, and jute), patchwork, beadwork (moti), candle making, incense stick production (agarbati), tailoring, purse making, file creation, herbal medicines, and food preservation. Artisans who have received training from SARTHI have passed on their skills to their family members, helping them learn the same trades. These trained individuals were earning an additional income of approximately Rs. 60 to 80 per day.

Every month, SARTHI organizes meetings with the weavers to discuss the quality of their work and provide them with the necessary raw materials. The products created by rural artisans, including woolen and cotton darry, panja darry, patchwork items, and herbal medicines, are sold at various exhibitions with SARTHI's support. This program has not only helped improve the livelihoods of the artisans but has also contributed to the preservation and promotion of traditional rural crafts.
