SARTHI started its education program in 1985. Initially, the objective was to provide non-formal education in villages where there were no government schools. This was because students from poor communities had to walk long distances to attend government schools. These children spent their days working in the fields, grazing cattle, and collecting fuelwood, which made it difficult for them to attend school. Recognizing the need for education, parents began sending their children to SARTHI’s schools in increasing numbers. SARTHI also established libraries in all 20 villages. Additionally, SARTHI worked on providing pre-primary education in these villages, fostering good habits in children through Balwadi centers.
